International unlicensed name (active substance) - human horiogonadotropin (hh), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).

Ingredients:

1 vial with dry product contains 1500 IU or 5000 IU of human horiogonadotropin and as a filler - mannitol.

1 vial with 1 ml of solvent contains an isotonic sodium chloride solution and diluted hydrochloric acid to generate the pH.

Description

The contents of the vial with the active substance is a frozen-dried powder of a white or light yellow color.

The contents of the vial with the solvent is completely transparent colorless watery fluid.

Pharmacological properties

Group affiliation - hormone.

The active substance of the drug Horagon - human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) produced by the placenta and derived from the urine of pregnant women. This hormone has the properties of the luteinizing hormone (LH) of a human anterior pituitary, but has a stronger effect due to the longer half-life. In women, the drug causes ovulation and stimulates the synthesis of estrogen and progesterone. In men - stimulates spermatogenesis and production of sex steroids (testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, 17ON - progesterone, estradiol).

Indication

For women:

- Induction of ovulation, if necessary, after stimulation of growth of follicles

- Maintenance of the function of the yellow body of ovary for the patients with luteral phase deficiency

For boys and men:

- Cryptorchidism, delayed puberty, hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (in combination with the drugs of human menopausal gonadotropins - hMG).

- For diagnostic purposes: differential diagnostic test for anorkhizm and cryptorchidism in boys. To assess the function of the testes with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism before the long-term stimulant treatment (functional test of Leydig).

Contraindications

General: Do not apply if there are tumors dependent on sex hormones and in cases if allergic reactions to the components of the drug in the past history were fixed.

Women: Horagon should not be introduced in the case of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

The boys and men: it is not recommended for use in organically conditioned cryptorchidism (testicular suprafascial position, inguinal hernia, the effects of surgery in the groin area).

Dosage and administration

The drug Horagon is administered intramuscularly after dilution in the supplied solvent.

For women: with the aim of induction of ovulation inject 5000ME or 10000ME of Horagon drug. For the maintenance of the function of the yellow body of ovary – inject 1500 - 5000ME of drug Horagon at the 3, 6 and 9 days after ovulation.

The boys and men: The general scheme of treatment of cryptorchidism in boys at the age of 2 – 6 years – every week during 5 weeks inject 500 - 2000ME of drug Horagon. Boys at the age of 3-6 years can be injected during 3 weeks 1 day a week 1500ME of drug Horagon (if necessary - in combination with GnRH - gonadotropin releasing hormone).
